My class is filled with unique personalities, strengths, and a variety of backgrounds. I have students who are extremely bright and are ready to be challenged. On the other hand, there are students who have only experienced a school setting for the first time, in my class. Because there is such a large spectrum of needs, it can be a challenge for me at times to meet all of their individual needs. My class this year has inspired me to do a better job of using outside resources to empower them to reach their full potential.
This class has done a fantastic job of challenging me to become a better educator.
We often times can get stuck in the monotony of our daily classroom routines and forget to embrace the love and joy of the learning progression. Getting to know some of the families that are attached to my students, I feel empathy toward some of the challenges my students are facing. They are just beginning their careers as students and are faced with socio-economic difficulties, instabilities at home, and a lack of exposure to the world around us. I am so thankful to be their teacher!
My Project
In Montana, our winters can be extremely frigid and last for months and months on end. We go out to recess several times per day unless it reaches subzero temperatures. With that said, appropriate clothing like coats, hats, and mittens, are crucial for students to acquire. Unfortunately, there are several families who may not be able to afford the luxuries of a nice set of hat and mittens for their little ones. As a consequence, many of my students find the multiple recesses to be more of a burden than an enjoyment when they are asked to endure the cold temperatures.
Each students in my class deserves to enjoy the great outdoors, even in the winter months.
Given the appropriate winter necessities, my students will be granted the ability to take a brain break and have fun while their hands and heads are kept warm.
