This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are scientists, mathematicians, readers, writers, and leaders! They love to think outside of the box and enjoy a challenge. Students in this class light up at the opportunity to get creative and work together towards a common goal. They like to roll up their sleeves and get down to business with meaningful projects and real life learning.
Hands on learning experiences give students who would normally struggle a chance to be successful in our classroom.
Nothing feels better than the sense of accomplishment my students feel when they know they've accomplished their goals!
My Project
Materials in this project will open up worlds of learning for my students. Butterfly kits will allow students the opportunity to set up their own science investigation while observing the butterfly life cycle first hand. Student interest will be piqued from day one of this unit when they arrive to school and see their teacher in a butterfly costume! Butterfly books will allow students to dig deeper in their learning and answer questions they form while observing butterflies as they change and grow.
Learning increases significantly when students are engaged and excited.
This project will integrate science and literacy, giving students an authentic reason to read informational text, apply their learning in investigations, and complete scientific writing to record and discuss their observations. By contributing to this project you will be aiding in the development of curious thinkers and future scientists!
