This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students at my school come from neighborhoods all over Oakland, California and from families that all want an enriched education for their children. Some students have faced much adversity and most consider school to be a second home where they can feel comfortable, safe, and happy and part of an overall community that cares for them. My students are excited to come to school each day and very eager to learn! Our school is small, under two hundred and eighty students total, and my kindergarteners work with peers at their age level and upper grades daily.
My Project
We were lucky enough to hatch chicks two years ago in my kindergarten class and next week we will begin the journey again! We will use the Ecoglow Brooder to keep our chicks warm after they hatch in 21 days. This is absolutely necessary to keep the chicks warm and alive after hatch.
Our soon-to-be chicks have committed happy homes, so we want each student to take a little wind up "chick" home to remember their experience.
Our chick hatching gets the whole school excited, with students from all grades coming to visit our chicks and learn about the chicken life cycle. Please help us keep our chicks comfortable with a deluxe Brooder!
