This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students rush into the building eager and ready to learn no matter their circumstance. This year has been extremely trying due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in their community. The students have been resilient through the delay in school, many displacements and housing relocations. My students also come from low socioeconomic households which can cause a lack of motivation. Yet through all the setbacks they still find a way to persevere with every adversity standing in front of them.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will be instrumental in my classroom to provide some motivation for reading. Many of my students are in extreme need for some one on one motivation to boost their reading skills. So being able to use the iPad as an incentive tool and learning resource allows for the students to be excited about independent reading opportunities. The timer will be utilized for daily warmups and exit ticket assignments.
The opportunity to use technology and print resources like the TIME for Kids magazines in an independent setting or in small groups creates MOTIVATION for the students.
The students will be eager and willing to use the Head Myself Sound Phones along with the class library of books as a means for listening to themselves read. These new learning manipulatives will create a new atmosphere for learning. Thank you in advance for thinking of us and helping us grow.
