This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Teaching 6th grade Science at our middle school, I service a group of dynamic, creative and noble students. This group of students is very diverse, but all stem from a low socioeconomic, high poverty area. They strive for success on a daily basis despite any trials that come their way.
The most notable traits about my students, is that they are resilient and gifted.
Having gone through Hurricane Harvey and being displaced to another campus, they have been conquerors. Each day they still arrive with a passion to learn.
My Project
Due to Hurricane Harvey and the lost of valuable technology, having a computer and Apple Watch will make student learning and professional development more meaningful again. My students are needing an extra computer inside of the classroom as well as an Apple Watch to make learning more engaging. Having an Apple Watch will help my students and I grow professionally and academically on a technological basis by making learning more innovative. As an educator, I will further implement the districts curriculum by download educational apps to use inside of the classroom along with timing all instructional activities. Several applications that I will use are: Educlipper, Wunderlist, Slack, and Airplay.
Using the Apple Watch will provide mobile, quick and accessible educational apps with just the touch of a button.
All the listed apps will assist with creating and sharing content with colleagues and leaving meaningful teacher feedback to students through technology. Students will be able to create projects and communicate with one another. My vision for this project is to help students become more tech-savvy and learn different methods of learning outside of using a sheet of paper and pencil.
In addition, the MacBook will be an added asset to our classroom technology station where students will further its use for scientific research and completing online assignments. Students will also be able to personally check their grades and monitor their citizenship.
