My students need short books like the Eyewitness Nonfiction Readers, to help them practice and improve their reading abilities.
This project expired on August 3, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from a variety of backgrounds with over 50% on the free lunch program. Many of my students receive a backpack filled with food for the weekend on Fridays. My students are the low performing struggling readers. But, they are so excited to come to my class to get help with their reading skills.
My students lost a lot of personal items and homes during Hurricane Harvey and they also lost their school.
I have had to replace almost everything I had accumulated over years and years of teaching. A lot of books were lost to the flood waters and they need to be replaced so my students will have the opportunity to read and improve their reading skills.
The Eyewitness Nonfiction Readers and the I Can Read books will be used in my classes daily. These books will help my students by giving them the opportunity to practice their reading skills. The daily reading time allows them to improve and raise their skill level to be equal to their grade level.
My students need the extra help that Leveled Reader books can give them.
Because of Hurricane Harvey, I have lost a lot of books that I collected over my years of teaching, books that I use in my classroom every day and the ability to get new replacements will truly be a gift.
