Our media center services roughly 920 high school students from various economic backgrounds in a small rural community. It is a central and interracial part of our school and community.
Our students need a safe space where they are able experiment, create, and explore without judgement or grading.
Outside of sports, our town offers little to engage and intellectually grow its youth. Our school believes we can help the community in this department by offering our students various engaging and knowledge-building projects and activities before, during, and after the school day.
My Project
Out teenagers need a safe place where they can let their create juices follow. There no better place than the school media center.
This project is requesting a variety materials including scissors, Loom and Loopers kits with refills, Crayola colored pencils, Tote 'n Go bags, tape, beads, and a pencil sharpener.
These supplies will serve as the foundation of our school's new Tinker Space, and will allow students the ability to create, design, and explore in a way they cannot in a traditional classroom setting.
Additionally, these materials afford students the opportunity to discover different possible career avenues. Through various projects and activities, students will explore the world of art, design, science, and engineering, and broaden their horizons.
These supplies have the potential to alter a student's life forever. Because of their exposure to the various learning opportunities in our TInker Space, students will enter college or the workforce more prepared and equipped to handle the challenges they face.
