Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have faced many obstacles the average 50-year-old has never faced. They come to school to learn, despite the lack of stability at home.
Through this pandemic, my students' zip code had one of the highest contagions rate in our city, they come from immigrant homes, that are one hundred percent high-risk, and their parents often work two jobs just to make sure that the children have the basic needs for school who unfortunately in a high rate had lost their job during the COVID-19 pandemic.
My students have a desire to learn and grow. They are eager mathematicians and soaring scientists. They want to be good role models for their younger siblings. They work hard each day, and they come to school with a positive attitude. I want to make sure that my students have the same opportunities to learn from their peers who are not facing the same obstacles.
My Project
COVID-19 has changed the way we live, socialize, work and do school. I miss my students and I miss going to school each day. My students are amazing scholars and young people that really want to make a difference in the world. The snacks and food are for students to be able to make it through day without getting hungry.
This school year it going to be extremely hard, the majority of my students' families have lost their jobs during this COVID-19 pandemic, unfortunately provide snack during the day will not be a priority even if they want to.
I would like to create a care package for each student to help them grow as learners at home by providing them with additional materials. I will deliver it to their homes to bring them a little joy during this confusing time. It will also remind them that I still care and think about them everyday.
Please help me to spread a little joy to my students.
