My Students

"I joined the Patriots in 7th grade because I wanted to be part of a family. The hardest part of running is when you want to give up, but you don't. The Patriots gave me role models to look up to." This is a quote from one of our runners from a yearbook.

Many teams focus on winning but we focus on improving.

We run races ranging from 1500m to a half-marathon! Many teams have tryouts but we accept all students. Our runners are motivated by many different reasons. We train in all sorts of weather, including the rain and snow! Our runners they treat one another like family members inside and outside of school. We have runners who graduated to high school but still return to practice with the team since we're one, big family!

My Project

I recently read an article of how a cross country college coach incorporated hurdling drills into the team's training to increase core strength, stability, and dynamic flexibility. The result was that the runners became better athletes and hence, better runners. Biomechanics and running form improved, particularly at the end of races when it's easy to lose form because that's when fatigue sets in.

I would love to use this training technique with my runners and am in need of hurdles.

I think my runners will find this very fun! They're very motivated individuals and will become better runners from it.
