Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The urban district in which my students attend school is very diverse. A large percentage of my students are from low income households. Many students receive free or reduced lunch and are provided breakfast each morning. Even though these students are surrounded by hardship in their lives, they come to school every day ready and willing to learn.
My present classroom is full with eager children who enjoy learning.
They are happy to work together. I want to provide them with every opportunity to become productive learners.
My Project
The refrigerator, stove, hutch and sink will go right in the front of the classroom where my children can pretend to wash the dishes, prepare food and care for their "pretend" home. They can learn to take care of the household chores. The household materials will be utilized daily.
As all young students do, my students learn through play!
During dramatic play in the house area children learn to communicate with each other in an imaginative way.
These materials will help their learning by supporting real life experiences that many of them are not able to have at home.
These dramatic play items will greet and invite all the children when they walk through the door to come right over and play. .
This will create a positive learning experience that my students need.
Our current items are old, have broken pieces, missing parts and chipped wood. I would love to update this area for the children to benefit their preschool experience.
