My Students
My students truly make my heart happy! I am excited for another year of teaching but anxious to meet my new kids. This is my 3rd year at my school and each year, I have grown to love my students. The majority of my students come from poverty and chaotic home lives. I strive to create a warm, loving classroom that becomes their happiest place.
It is important to me that each and every one of my students know how special they are.
I reflect daily on my own childhood and all the blessings I was given. It is my goal to be a positive influence on all my students and make their hearts a little happier.
My Project
Students are always misplacing their materials! For the majority of my students, a pencil box doesn't make the list for back to school as it is not a "necessity" and money is tight. By gifting each of my students a pencil box, they can have something that is their very own and keeps their materials organized! I plan to personalize the boxes with their names to make them feel extra special.
Flexible seating is an important aspect of my classroom.
Last year, I was lucky enough to get some "Jellyfish" chairs. They were an instant hit but got a little too much love last year. Their covers have holes and stains. The bases are still in great condition but new covers are essential! Included in flexible seating is a soothing learning environment. The harsh fluorescent lights can cause eye strain and headaches. The light blue covers help reduce the glare.
My district has adopted a new math curriculum. I am excited to see my learners grow but am in need of some serious organization! The sterilite stacking boxes will house the "workplaces" and I need file crates and folders to organize all the copies.
I'm moving from one room to another this year and need to create another dry-erase world wall for my learners to engage with. My new room also has a bathroom-the Dial soap is a must to keep the germs away!
