Our students have high needs but they have even higher hopes! They demonstrate perseverance and determination every time they show up for school. Many people have labeled them and counted them out before they even enter the world, but they are kind, caring, loving students who are willing to learn and grow.
Our students may have high needs but we have high hopes that each student can and will be successful!
It's my job to make sure they reach their greatest potential and prove everyone wrong!
Students will participate in an after-school program is an extra-curricular opportunity for students to explore growing, eating and celebrating food and how the food we eat is connected to our health and our environment.
Each lesson will feature a culinary recipe, strategically tied to a seasonal garden crop plan, devised to provide an opportunity for all students to take part in growing, harvesting and eating delicious, healthy garden-grown food.
This lesson will make a difference for the students we serve because most of them are the older sibling in the family. They are responsible for the dinners some nights and need healthy ideas and options. The Green Heart Project and CCSD Nutrition Services will provide a supplementary after-school program during the “Gator Girls” group for the Spring 2020 semester.
Green Heart lessons will take place once a month on Tuesdays from January through May 2020. The goal is for the students to learn how to live happy and healthy lives for today and tomorrow!
