Happy Healthy Kids

Help me give my students materials that will help with their physical, social and emotional well-being. Having an air purifier, SEL books, mirrors for daily self affirmations and other materials will provide this for my sweet first graders.

My Students

I have 24 six-year-old, eager little learners in my classroom this year. They thrive off of the utilization of technology in the classroom and benefit from a good variety of instructional strategies. My students are at a wide range of ability levels in reading, writing, and math. I have a few students that are well above grade level in reading and constantly need more engaging methods for expanding their knowledge. I also have some students who are very low in these academic areas and could benefit from variety in instruction.

I am fully invested in their education and ensuring that they receive the best possible instruction and experience.

My first priority as a teacher is making sure my students feel safe, valued, and loved at school. Having a wide variety of resources in the classroom is extremely beneficial to reaching the needs of each individual student in my classroom.

My Project

Having these selected materials for our learning environment will help tremendously with providing a healthy environment for my students--physically, socially, emotionally and educationally. An air purifier would help to keep the air in our classroom clean and healthy. Having a portable whiteboard would allow me to teach with demonstrations from any location --school or home. Students have been sharing headphones this year, as we don't have enough working sets for all students. Having these would help students learn both in the classroom and at home, without spreading germs from sharing. They will be able to focus on their learning without distractions that come from not having headphones.

Some of the best instructional materials are books that support social and emotional learning and growth.

Having access to more of these in my classroom will provide opportunities for my students to learn how to handle feelings. I will be using the handheld mirrors with my class when we do self-affirmations each morning to start the day. These resources will tremendously support the well-being of my first graders.
