Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are motivated and eager to learn. They enjoy literature and discussing books. They have a wonderful knack for connecting personal experiences with the literature they have read. They enjoy being read to, and after they have heard books read to them, they can read them on their own. They are learning a new language and developing their vocabulary every day. I want them to develop a love of reading that will take them on great adventures!
I teach twenty-six first grade, second language learners, living in a low-income community in Los Angeles.
Our school is a Title I school with students from preschool to fifth grade. We strive to instill the idea in our students that they are "Thinkers, Leaders, and Change Makers!" I believe they all strive to have those qualities as the year progresses.
My Project
We are constantly in need of Clorox wipes to clean our classroom tables. We need to clean our tables daily especially in the Winter months to have a healthy environment. My students also need hand soap to be able to wash their hands regularly.
I am also asking for Goldfish crackers and a snack pack for all my students that they can use on our upcoming class trip.
In addition, I am asking for basic school supplies like Sharpies, highlighters, and card stock paper. I need these supplies to make learning games for my students to use. All the materials I am asking for are going to help my students stay healthy and happy.
