Many of my students come from low-income homes. Children in poverty who see a way out work harder in school to make their dreams come true. Children faced with peer pressure to drink or do drugs will back away if they know it will affect their chances of pursuing those dreams. My students are responding in a positive way to a prevention and intervention method. They are learning that perseverance and a good heart will help them achieve their goals.
My students deserve to be reminded when they enter our school, how important they are; how special they are; and that their kindness and perseverance can make a difference!
I watch many of my students day in and day out struggle to get through the school day awake because they couldn't sleep the night before, or sneak some food from their lunch trays to take home because they know they may not get dinner. Yet, they continue to want to do for others. They deserve my efforts. They deserve the best.

My Project
"Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories." Many of my students will not be able to afford winter weather accessories this winter. I am requesting winter gloves and lotion for every student. In order for us to get them outside for recess, they will need these gloves.
Recess has been proven to increase attendance, test scores, and the climate of a classroom.
This donation would allow us to give our students and teachers those opportunities. Let us help them make those outside winter memories with, not only their classmates, but also their families. Snow days are fun for everyone ... everyone that can get outside to play! The hand lotion will help heal those chapped hands. Again, these warm winter gloves will help our students enjoy this cold winter while staying a bit warmer.
