My students need an outdoor rabbit hutch to let our classroom rabbit SAFELY explore the outdoors. We also need a carrier for a safe way to transport him to and from school.

My Students

Classroom pets teach children responsibility and love. Most of all - they teach children how to care for something outside of themselves!

My students are from mostly low socio-economic backgrounds.

Many receive free and reduced lunch, and a large number of them qualify for support under the homeless title. They are fortunate to attend an empowerment school with a principal that supports many diverse learning experiences. We constantly strive to provide learning opportunities these children would not experience at home!

My Project

I am requesting an outdoor bunny hutch that will allow our classroom rabbit "Thackery Binx" to SAFELY explore the outdoors. We have a small kindergarten courtyard between two rooms that Binx would love to explore; however, it is not safe to let him just run around it. We would love the opportunity for him to get fresh air and still be safe! I am also requesting a soft-sided carrier to transport Binx to and from school. Currently, we use a hard carrier made for dogs. This is too large for him, and he could easily become hurt in a hard carrier.

Science and social studies are best taught hands-on, especially to Kindergarten students!

I love providing new opportunities for them to learn and explore. Having a classroom pet has opened up their hearts and minds to new possibilities. Not only are they learning to be socially responsible and take care of an animal, but they are also studying how animals grow and interact! Your support will help to enrich their learning experience, and make one classroom bunny very happy!
