My entire school district receives free and reduced lunch from a federal grant based off the poverty level within our county. At my specific school, 67% of the students are economically disadvantaged. The majority of the students in my classroom come from families that are of low-socioeconomic status. Regardless of these statistics, my school has taken the initiative to provide students with an engaging, motivating, and rigorous educational environment in which all students are encouraged to achieve their highest potential.
At my school, 84% of the students met academic growth standards last school year.
In order to continue supporting, engaging, and motivating my students, I am constantly in search of new teaching strategies to improve my students' learning opportunities.
My Project
By attending the Happy Go Teach Conference, I will be able to better support, motivate, and engage my at-risk third grade students. I will be able to provide them with learning opportunities that are student-centered, hands-on, and multi-sensory. Through this conference, I will be able to provide my students with authentic learning experiences that truly matter. Students want to be engaged and true engagement is the driving force behind education.
The presenters for this conference are educators who believe that real life experiences should be replicated in the classroom and used to drive instruction.
They also believe that 21st century skills are fostered in the educational environment. As a teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to provide my students with every learning opportunity possible to make them successful citizens in our world, as well as students in my classroom.
The Happy Go Teach Conference will help me better prepare my students for experiences in and out of the classroom.
