Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a school located in Queens, NY, in the most diverse area of Queens, in the heart of Flushing! Our school promotes being healthy and caring for the community and Earth.
The families enjoy participating in school activities and make every effort to help their children succeed.
The majority of my students come from families that immigrated to the United States to give their children the best opportunity to succeed. They value education very much and always want the best for their children. Many work long hours to support their family. Because of this, our students often attend after-school or are left with other family members to be taken care of.
We are facing a system that requires our students to be tested and continuously evaluated to meet the Common Core Standards. Using age-appropriate tools in the classroom can help prepare my students to be active learners and love to engage in their own learning.
My Project
I am requesting a Shark vacuum to keep the floors of our classroom clean since our children are often working and playing in different areas of the room. Our kindergarten classroom can get very dirty at the end of the day and that's okay because it shows me that a lot of learning took place.
Anyone working in a school can tell you how germs can spread.
I am also requesting an air purifier to keep the classroom air clean and germ free as best as possible.
These materials will also help our kids see the practical use of a vacuum and technology and help us maintain a clean and healthy classroom!
