My students are highly motivated learners who demonstrate a strong desire to learn.
They are learning Chinese, science, and math in Mandarin with me.
Less than 1% of our students are from Chinese native speaking families. In other words, 99% of our students are not only learning the second language but using the second language to learn other subjects such as math and science. Our classroom is the only place for them to learn the Chinese language and culture. We treasure the time we have at school.
My Project
I will love to give students the opportunity to learn about the Chinese spring festival couplets by making their own spring festival couplets at school. By creating the project student will remember how to write "spring" in Chinese and also understand why Chinese people post the spring couplets upside down. Another Chinese art project we would love to do is Chinese blowing ink painting, students will use Chinese rice paper, ink, and a water dropper to create a cherry blossom project. They will learn how ancient Chinese drawback in the days.
