Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
For the past two years I have always started the school year with hopes of making every students' birthday special. However, I always find myself unable to follow-through. After finishing my second year teaching second grade in east San Jose, I realize this is something I want to change for next year. I want to make sure every student's day is a special learning experience. This proposal will provide the resources to make the students feel special on their day. In this proposal I am requesting some birthday cards, some birthday books, and prizes like birthday pencils. Additionally I am requesting materials to help the students make their birthday book. These books will showcase the student and the student's family. The materials will help us publish and then create a library of special students. I envision having a publishing party on their birthday, putting up the birthday banner and bulletin board for each special student. For those students whose birthdays take place in the summer, we will celebrate their half birthday. I really think this will make the classroom more welcoming and enjoyable for each and every student. It will also incorporate reading and writing standards.
