Happy and Healthy Helping Hands

Help me give my students PPE and cleaning supplies so that we can keep the spread of COVID-19 and other germs down to a minimum. I also need a voice amplifier to teach with the masks.

My Students

W. Middle School is part of the School District of Philadelphia, an urban, low-income school district with students of high poverty levels. Wilson celebrates the diversity and individuality of each student to come together as one, big, school family. I love how my students all have something unique to offer to the classroom.

The student population is comprised of students of various cultures, countries of origin, and native languages.

Teaching such a large population of English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) can be a challenge, but the reward of seeing these students continue to learn, grow, and give their best efforts everyday encourages us to work together to overcome all obstacles.

Gifting these students some additional resources to aid the learning process will help them reach their full potential and contest any tribulations that may be faced this year as we readjust to in-person instruction.

My Project

Our district schools have had to move to virtual instruction temporarily because of the rate of COVID-19 transmission infecting our schools. In order to safely return back to in-person instruction, students and staff alike need proper PPE, as we have not received enough from our school.

We also need tissues and paper towels, as winter colds have been affecting our ability to learn.

Not all students have their own water bottle each day either to stay hydrated during instruction.

Finally, as I have been double-masking, it becomes more difficult to project my voice for students to hear instructions over the mask. A voice amplifier will help me rest my vocal cords, as I have found myself consistently losing my voice this school year and suffer from Vocal Cord Dysfunction.
