This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach middle school students (sixth through eighth-graders) who qualify for special education in an inner-city, charter school in Youngstown, Ohio. This area is high poverty and most, if not all, of the students fall far below the poverty line. My school is a Title I school where all of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. They work so hard and have persevered through a difficult year of distance learning and are now beginning the school year back in the building! Everyone is so excited!
The students I work with love to learn and see themselves making progress!
My Project
To keep my students as safe as possible during the coronavirus pandemic, we must be taking many precautions to prevent the spread of any germs. Items requested in this project include tissues, Lysol wipes and spray, masks, and hand sanitizer. My students will use the hand sanitizer so they can clean their hands quickly and conveniently. Because many of them come from poverty situations, they often lack hygiene items at home such as deodorant, body wash/soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, and menstrual products. By having supplies readily available for cleaning, I can spend more time focusing on instruction.
Your donation will help to keep my students safe and healthy.
School supplies are used up quickly and frequently need to be replenished throughout the school year. My students and I appreciate any contribution that you can make towards my classroom cleaning supplies.
