Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is on a Reserve Base. We serve the children of our men and women serving in the United States military from all branches. Our school has over 1000 children that come from diverse military families. Children move every few years and have to start a new school because of the military parents' duty station transfer.
At our school, teachers and staff members strive to provide the best possible education to the military children who have to endure a new home, new school, and new friends every few years.
The mission of our school is to educate our military-dependent children, no matter what their backgrounds or previous school experiences, to fully achieve their personal and academic potential through the acquisition of core knowledge and the skills of analysis, problem-solving, communication, and global responsibility.
My Project
We need six iPad minis in the hope that we can create a framework within which students can show their understanding of curricular objectives while providing a high degree of student choice, creativity and innovation. We hope to create a framework within which students can show their understanding of curricular objectives while providing a high degree of student choice, creativity and innovation. The students will work in partnerships or in small groups as they plan and record podcasts comparing and contrasting multicultural versions of the Cinderella story.
iPads will also be beneficial in the process of comparing and contrasting, as students will use the Apps “Boardthing” or “Venn Diagram” to compare story elements.
When finished students can save their Venn Diagrams as an image to the camera roll for easy sharing. This is one of many examples of where the technology improves the process because students always have trouble getting their writing to fit in the space of a paper venn diagram. Since they can change the size of the text, they can adjust the sizing for each of the labels so they fit.
