Imagine trying to teach a room full of 4-5 year old students who all come from different backgrounds and experiences. In my years of teaching, I have learned to laugh and enjoy every minute of my day. My students are fun, expressive children who come from all types of social and economic backgrounds.
They love games and anything that allows them to move.
I try to plan lessons that are engaging, interactive, and hands-on to keep them interested and excited about learning.
My Project
Many of my students come to school knowing zero letters. I need basic hands-on materials to introduce the alphabet to my class. The Handwriting Without Tears program is an amazing system that breaks down how to form letters into 4 easy shapes: big curve, little curve, big line, & little line.
These materials are perfect for introducing my little learners to basic handwriting & letter formation.
The Large Wooden Pieces and Laminated Cards provide a starting point & introduce the 4 shapes by allowing children to explore and manipulate through touch. The Stamp and See boards are perfect for little hands and help children get the correct formation before they can even hold a pencil. The Roll-A Dough Trays help transition to handwriting by increasing fine motor control.
Having these materials would greatly increase the chances that all my students will leave my class knowing all their letters, which will prepare them for Kindergarten.
