Handshape Modeling

Help me give my students the hands on experience of creating a physical representation of their hands creating the different handshapes of the ASL alphabet . We will use the Make-a-Mold casting kits to cast their own hands!

My Students

My students, new to me, are choosing to learn a language and a culture that I have been a part of for most of my life. I hope to share the passion I have for the Deaf community with them and to see the same passion ignite in some of them. ASL can be fun and rewarding, but is also challenging and these students have accepted that challenge. They will step into the classroom this year with a new teacher and a new attitude.

My Project

With the help of your donation, we will create a manual alphabet made by casting the hands of the students themselves. It is important to have a physical and visual representation of the content they will be learning to refer back to the entire year.

This project will make a lasting impression on them because it is an experience they will likely never forget.

With a mission to inspire them and encourage them to continue in their education of American Sign Language long after they leave my classroom, I believe this project can do just that. The goal is to inspire the love of communication through a hands-on project!
