This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to me with different levels of preschool experience. Some have been to preschool before while most have never been in a school setting.
I will be teaching English Language Learners this year so some of them will come with limited English skills and will need extra help.
They are super sweet, hard workers who are eager to be in school and learn. Seeing them blossom through the school year is truly amazing, and I know we can achieve this even while learning virtually.
My Project
These materials are necessary to teach my students how to read, write and count. Each student will receive a "To Go" bag that will have the same manipulatives that I use in our classroom each and every day. These tools are the foundation of kindergarten learning.
The magnetic letters will be used to learn letters, explore sounds and practice how to read and create words.
The white boards will provide a way for each student to participate in lessons and share their work. The Unifix cubes, ten frames, and dice will help the students recognize numbers, learn to count, subitize, and add. Kindergarten is all about learning with hands-on experiences. The materials in the "To Go" bags will help make virtual learning fun and engaging.
