My students need light bulbs, batteries, magnets, and other science materials to complete hands-on science investigations.

I teach fifth-grade in a high-poverty, Title I urban school district. My class consists of 20 intelligent, energetic, and curious students. They are truly an incredible group of children that I have the privilege of calling my class.
My students love learning and engaging in hands-on classroom activities.
They love to work collaboratively in small groups while experimenting and learning from one another. They love sharing their knowledge and exploring new concepts.
I love watching them grow and learn! They are my inspiration.
Science can be a difficult subject for students due to new vocabulary and abstract concepts. My goal is to create a classroom of full of scientists! I want science to come alive for my students through scientific exploration.
My students need these materials to experience hands-on, meaningful scientific investigations.
These materials will provide opportunities for them to create mixtures and solutions, to assemble circuits, and investigate magnetism. They will be able to explore light, sound, rocks, and minerals.
By experimenting with these materials they will learn through their own exploration. This project will help my students develop a deeper understanding of abstract concepts. They will use the mirrors, prisms, and color paddles to investigate the basic characteristics of light and how it behaves. They will use the batteries, light bulbs, and alligator clips to investigate electricity and circuits.
The markers and chart paper will be used to create anchor charts to identify key vocabulary words and concepts. The film canisters and graduated cylinders will be used to experiment with mixtures and solutions.
