Dr. Hudson from Wilmington NC is requesting lab equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students tools to create hands-on exploration of science concepts. I am requesting motion and temperature sensors which will allow students to record and analyze real-time data.

I teach in the Design Center of a Title I elementary school in Southeastern North Carolina. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced cost lunch and many of our students are exceptional learners. As a special areas teacher, I have the honor and pleasure of knowing and teaching all of the students in our school.
In the design center, students explore, experiment, plan, build, and create!
We work hard, try new things, and are not afraid to make mistakes. We use science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), along with the Think, Make, Improve Design Process to design and create all sorts interesting things from pipe cleaner towers to electrical circuits and beyond. I love working with all of our students and helping them learn and grow through design and technology!
We have an awesome group of diverse learners who are excited to come to school every day and eager to learn! Our staff works hard to ensure all of our students are exposed to as many experiences and opportunities as possible. I am excited about the possibilities DonorsChoose.org grants present. Our students deserve the best! We are working hard to provide it for them and appreciate your support!
My school is working hard to increase students' knowledge and understanding of science concepts. Science is a growing career path and we want our students to have the background skills and knowledge to compete successfully with their peers. We believe helping student develop scientific knowledge will better prepare them for success in their future academic and career endeavors.
The motion and temperature sensors I have requested will allow students to collect and analyze real-time scientific data.
We will use these sensors to graph and analyze patterns of motion and to conduct experiments related to energy conductors and insulators and the resulting temperature changes. Students will be able to vary the input and analyze changes in the resulting output. These tools will allow students to explore motion and temperature through real-world experimentation, which is a tremendously powerful learning tool.
