I want to inspire my students to learn and be everything that they can be in this world.
My students attend a Title I public school in a beautiful, rural town in North Carolina. All economic levels are represented. For many students, English is their second language.
Our state has adopted the Common Core Curriculum which has integrated Science, Technology, Math, and Art into all parts of the daily curriculum. Our community is close, with parents willing to do whatever it takes to give their children a good education. I would like for my students to learn science through hands on, cooperative learning projects.
My Project
The 8 Science Learning Centers requested are for students to actively learn while they are engaged in the various science activities. These resources will make it possible for my students to learn more about their environment and to learn to love science.
Science explorations and hands on discoveries need to be integrated into our daily learning.
The 8 science centers: Animals, Plants, Magnets, Nutrition, Bugs and Insects, Life Cycles, the Five Senses, and Weather and Seasons are for students to actively learn while they are engaged in the various activities. In the animal centers students will work with a buddy to classify and sort the similarities and differences of animals. They will learn the habits of many animals. My students will conduct experiments and make predictions with the magnetic centers. The Nutrition and Five Senses centers will give students reasons for having a healthy life style.
All centers will help students identify problems and solutions as they work with a buddy. All these resources will be used so students can become more aware of their environment and the importance science in their lives.
