Play is the work of children according to Piaget. My kindergarten students love to play and they love science! We lack hands-on science materials that would introduce the children to the exciting world around them.
My four and five year old kindergarten students are enthusiastic and curious learners.
I have a class of 25 children - 17 boys and 8 girls, including eight who are learning English and three with orthopedic impairments. Their parents want the best for them, however, because about 85% qualify for free or reduced lunch, they often do not have the resources to make science fun for their children.
My Project
Children learn best while playing. These hands-on science materials fill the bill by teaching key science skills while the children are having fun! The transparent marble run will allow the kids to learn about gravity, speed, and momentum. With the magnet center and bugs, children will be able to explore the basics of magnetism and parts of an insect. We can complete many experiments with the magnifying glasses and eye droppers. With these items, my students will love science and develop a sense of curiosity about the world!
By supporting my project, you will be investing in my kinders' learning and our future.
Research shows that early experiences in science helps kids develop problem-solving skills that empower them to participate in an increasingly scientific and technological world. As Piaget stated, "only education is capable of saving our societies from possible collapse, whether violent, or gradual." Please help me give my students a fun and interesting science education!
