Mrs. Llewellyn from West Jordan UT is requesting Lab Equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Hands-on Science Labs and Art Integration

Help me give my students science and art supplies for hands on experiment labs and integrated visual art projects. These will lead to improved student engagement and greater retention of the science curriculum.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school where most of my students come from low income families and receive free or reduced lunch. They are motivated to learn and excel when provided opportunities and materials to do so. My students are curious and have a desire to succeed.

Many of my students are English language learners who need hands on activities and arts integration to aid their comprehension in content areas.

I just need help getting the variety of materials we need to turn our classroom into a learning environment for them to explore, learn, create, and grow.

My Project

Students will use the science materials to build electrical circuits, explore chemical and physical changes, and explore how magnets work. Electricity will make a lot more sense to students when they create light up cards and complex pathways. Seeing chemical changes happen is good, being able to make the chemical changes happen is even better. These measuring tools will help students safely experience changes in matter.

Paints and pastels will help students demonstrate understanding with creative integrated science projects that also explore changes in matter.

We will use the epoxy coating to make realistic beaks and eyes in our animal adaptations unit.
