This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 6th grade science. My middle schoolers are very eager and interested in exploring science through a more thorough hands-on experience. My students want to get a feel of how science relates to everyday life. Bringing in more hands-on activities where the students actually get to see how they use science in their everyday life is my goal for the students. By my students getting an understanding of how they use science everyday, without even realizing it, it will open up the door for them to understand science, as a whole, better.
My Project
All of my students want to learn about science. A lot of my students complain that science is hard or they just don’t get science. By providing my students with necessary materials to perform safe hands-on learning experiences, it allows students to explore science more deeply. Students will use the safety goggles to protect their eyes. The first aid kit is needed just in case a student accidentally hurts themselves. The crayons and colored pencils are necessary tools that my students need to complete their interactive notebooks. They also get to see science in action and get the play the roles of a scientist or an engineer.
