Hands on Robotics

My students need hands-on robotics labs for our robotics unit. We used borrowed robotic toys last year but I would like them to have more realistic kits.

My Students

My middle school is set up in houses. We have a house of 5th graders, a house of 6th graders and then a house of 5/6th graders. I am in the mixed house. About of 1/3 of my 6th graders were in our house last year too. Both my 5th and 6th graders love working on labs in science. Much of my time is creating and building labs for them do to.

Science is a strong connector to math, reading and the real world.

I strive to have my students see the real world application to what we are talking about in my science class.

My Project

We learn about robotics and how they are used. I have used a few toys in the past but these are simple and do not have a real function. I am looking to give my students hands on time with a real All Terrain 3-in-1 RC Robot . I have asked for a number of sets so that I can split them with the other section of 6th grade.

This project is all about having students work with realistic robots.

Learning about robots are cool but using them is better. I plan have them used the robots to complete a small task as a group.
