Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently teaching a small group classroom for a K-1 grade and this is a multi-age classroom at a Title I school, in the state of NM. I am a SPED teacher that services students with learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math. My students are behind in their abilities and are struggling with their studies at the young ages between 5-7. My students are eager to learn and need more tools to help them be successful in the General Education Classroom.
My Project
My students are students are struggling students that have been identified as students with reading, writing, and math disabilities. These activities will provide them the opportunities to practice a skill they are learning about the reading process. The hands-on activities give them the opportunities to work on a skill and practice during the classroom rotations.
During class time, my students rotate through stations every 15 minutes.
They receive their instruction in a small group setting. These kits will provide them opportunities to practice skills they need to learn to become a proficient reader. For example, they will practice beginning sounds of a word, sight word practice, and write a complete sentence using their sight words. The sight word readers will provide opportunities to practice reading these words.
