Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher that loves working with little ones. Today, kindergarten is not what it used to be. Now, we have to focus on standardized tests and a very rigorous curriculum, but we forget that they are still just kids that need to explore, play and create.
My students are very special to me and I want the best for them.
They are wonderful, five year old kids that are eager to learn to explore, invent and discover.
My Project
My students need shrinky dink sheets to make an end of the year project. The students will make a design in the shrinky dink sheets and when I place them in the oven, they will shrink to be made into key chains. Their parents can keep them forever as a memory of kindergarten. The mugs are gifts for their dads for Fathers Day. The students will decorate the mug with Sharpie markers and the students will give them to their dads. They will be using their sight words and their sounds to write a message to their dads. They come from low income families and I think it will be a very good experience for the students to be able to give something to their dads that they made.
