My students are 5 and 6 year olds living in the inner city. They are very smart and love hands-on activities. They love to learn and explore in the classroom.
My students enjoy and need hands on play.
They are at an age when play based learning is very important to their development. A large part of their school day is based on using the imagination.
In our area, my students do not have access to new and fun materials to support their play based learning.
My students are at an age where hands on and imaginative play is very important for their development and learning. In my kindergarten classroom, there is dirty and broken kitchen play set. My students would benefit from new play areas where they can interact with one another and use their imaginations. These new play stations can teach them how to work with others and strengthen social skills as well as how to create and build.
Play based learning is a large part of their kindergarten year and to have beautiful new materials to use would make such a difference for my students who often have to use older and broken materials.
