The best part about teaching my students is how diverse they are.
I have students who come to school with bundles of supplies and all the latest clothing, but I also have students who don't get a chance to eat breakfast in the morning. No matter what their background is, they all try their best every day, and that's what makes my students special.
My Project
These donations will provide students with materials needed to apply math in real life ways. Students will use math and critical thinking to face challenges posed by the teacher.
They will need to work collaboratively to plan and build projects that meet the specifications of the challenge.
Our first project is them stranded on an island and needing to build a hut to survive the elements. This hut must meet certain requirements and students must plan for their hut to survive a wind storm. With these materials, I will be able to provide students with multiple ways to succeed in their challenges.
We will use the bins to store our materials, tape to hold items together that can't be glued, and tacky glue as a safe alternative to hot glue or super glue.
