Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a first grade teacher. My students love math! I feel sad that our school does not have the necessary funding to have more hands-on learning materials. My class would love to have fun hands-on math games to use in our centers. I believe that my students would achieve so much more if they had more materials that are not only helping them learn, but are also fun. Many students do not realize that they are learning while at the centers. They think it is play-time. When you ask the students questions about the center work that they did, many are surprised that they also learned while they were playing. The materials I am looking at would allow sixteen students to use these materials at a time. There are four center games in the set. The skill-building games include problem solving, money, fractions, and time. Each game comes will all necessary manipulatives for each student to use. Since many of these skills are important to grasp in the first grade, I feel that it is important to give my students the items that they will need to be successful in future grades! The great thing about these games is that they can be used year after year for more students to enjoy!
