My students need 2 Galaxy Tablets so they can work on online Math programs. They also need math manipulatives for fractions that we can use in small group lessons and independent work centers.
I teach at a K-8 Title 1 school in a small, rural community. This year I am teaching 3rd graders. I want to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences that will inspire a lifetime enjoyment of learning.
Our school focuses on leadership and responsibility.
In my classroom, I also focus on each student's potential by creating an environment where students can be successful despite their challenges. One way I can do this is by offering them access to online Math programs and providing hands-on resources that will allow them to practice the skills they are learning in fun and engaging ways. The Galaxy tablets and resources for fractions will help me give them the practice opportunities they need.
My overall goal is to provide my students the opportunity to practice their math skills in a way that will meet their personal learning style. My students love to work in small groups and in learning centers. They like taking exploring new skills and showing their classmates what they have learned. I will use the fraction number lines, fraction tiles, math stamps and tablets during small group instruction and math centers in order to make math concepts more concrete.
My Project
Math does not come easy for everyone. Everyone learns math skills in different ways and it is my job, as a teacher, to find what works best for my students. All of my students like to learn in different ways. Some like to use online games and activities. Some like to use hands on manipulatives. Some like to use dry erase boards and markers and others like to use the old fashioned paper and pencil. Through this project, my hope is to give my students access to multiple modes for learning so that they can have opportunity to practice in a variety of ways. The Galaxy tablets and the fraction resources will help me meet this teaching goal.
