Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teach and repeat is not the only way to learn, students need actual practice with hands on materials in order to achieve math standards.
My students are 6 and 7 year-olds who attend a large school in a low income area in Southern California.
They are culturally diverse and mostly minority students. Their home life ranges from single parents, two family income, grandparents, and foster care. However, they are all EAGER to learn.
My Project
Hands On math materials will inspire my students to get involved and "feel" math. They will have a better grasp of math concepts when they can "see" it, "manipulate" it, and "write" it. These math materials will help my students do just that...master math concepts.
These materials will impact my students by getting them engaged in their math learning in a fun, exciting way.
This will inspire them to love math and learning new math concepts.
