My students need math manipulatives and hands-on learning activities to help them learn in first grade. The stand-up magnetic whiteboard will be used during math and reading centers to help students practice their reading and math.
A typical day in my classroom involves all of my students working in small groups in both math and literacy. Students are engaged in hands-on activities to make learning more meaningful in these small groups. It is my goal every day to ignite a passion for learning in each of my students!
My students are curious learners who enjoy learning through movement, hands-on activities and engaging activities that require them to be critical thinkers.
Our school is a fairly large elementary school with a large range of learning needs. As teachers, we teach students how to be inquirers and scholars, no matter their learning abilities. We want all students to be the best they can be and strive every day to achieve this goal.
My Project
Students will use these materials in the classroom daily during our math and reading instruction and morning work time. Manipulatives such as the measurement tools, pattern activities, money puzzles, and much more can be used in small groups, whole class, individual and partner work. Hands-on activities are a great resource for students to be able to use in the classroom because they are physical objects that the students use to help them better understand their learning. We currently have a limited amount of math and reading manipulatives in our classroom so it would be great to add to our collection!
