My Students

My school is entering into its fourth year of existence in Randolph County. While we are located in Randolph County, our school is made up of students from multiple counties from the heart of North Carolina. These students come into our school with different needs and learning styles; our goal is to meet those through STEAM education and problem based inquiries. I think I speak for all the teachers at our school, and our kids are amazing!

Our school's focus on STEAM education meets the needs of students that isn't always met in a traditional educational environment!

My Project

These materials will allow my 6th grade students to access the material in their own way. Not all students learn in the same way, and some need to be able to play with solid concrete materials in order to gain understanding before diving into other methods. These materials enable students to learn by doing, instead of just seeing.

Math education has evolved from the days of lectures and note taking to meet the needs of students who desire to create in order to learn.

I feel lucky to work in an environment where students' needs and best interests are at the forefront of our educational model!
