My students are like little sponges soaking up knowledge on a daily basis. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and to be challenged to creatively think in order to develop new skills. In our class, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group and individual work to ensure that each student's needs are met.
My students come to school each day with excitement and a desire to learn new things.
They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to learn from them, too!
My Project
Learning math is so much easier when you can manipulate your world. I envision having these materials daily to help my students learn and grow. Not only that, but I desire for them to find a love and passion for math, and that only happens as they explore and manipulate their math world. I want to connect the math we learn in 3rd grade to the knowledge students have obtained in earlier grades. Without hands-on manipulatives, math has no meaning other than a bunch of numbers.
As students are able to engage in their learning by using these materials, their learning will increase.
They will find a love for math as they are able to "play" while learning, and for some they might find an enjoyment they've been missing. They will grow in knowledge that will help in future grades, and hopefully find a love as they understand the "why" of math.
