A typical day in my classroom involves lots of math! I teach math to three third grade classes. That's about sixty students! We are always counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, or building something! I am hoping that my students leave my room feeling as if they are mathematicians!
As my students continue their journey through third grade, I want to be sure to provide them with the materials they need to be successful.
My students are excited to learn and love to have fun, hands-on activities.
My Project
These hands-on math materials will allow me to have small groups of children work on specific skills in geometry, area and perimeter, and basic math skills. During small group time, I am able to work with 2-3 students on skills that they may need extra help with. During this time it is important that I have meaningful centers for the other students to work at while in small groups. While I’m focused on students who may need extra help, I realize the importance of challenging my other students in a fun, meaningful way. The students love centers with hands on manipulatives!
