My students enter the classroom eager and ready to learn. I am currently a special education teacher working with students with a wide range of disabilities. Being a newer teacher in my school, I am working on making my classroom more welcoming to my kiddos. I want them to feel comfortable and excited to be there. I hope to add new hands-on materials, flexible seating options, and technology to enhance their learning experience. Making learning fun will help close the educational gap for my struggling learners!
My Project
This year I would like to implement math centers into my daily instruction. I believe the ability to work with smaller groups will be extremely beneficial to my students. The math centers will be engaging, fun, and productive. Students enjoy using math manipulatives and will be eager to practice. The Take It To Your Seat math centers book will provide me with various centers to meet the grade 3 curriculum. The classroom resource kit will include 36 centers that address the important skills of numbers, operations, algebra & geometry, measurement, and data analysis & probability.
My students will become expert mathematicians!
Who doesn't love a fun game?
Some of my favorite teacher moments are when my students are having a blast and do not even realize they are learning! Practicing math through games is a great way to engage students in the learning process while making learning fun and enjoyable. I can picture my students working with partners using the multiplication war games. This game would be a fun way for them to master their math facts.
Research has proven that students learn best when they are able to make real life connections and practice through hands-on activities... so let's put the learning into their hands!
