My students enter my classroom and are genuinely eager to find out what they will be learning today. I strive to continually integrate new ideas and concepts into our classroom. The students thoroughly enjoy and look forward to the innovative, engaging, and differentiated instruction that I take pride in delivering on a daily basis.
The students attend a pre-K through 8 school located in a small, rural district of Vermont.
There are about 650 students enrolled, and many of the students who attend school here are children of former students, so they come from a very close-knit community. The students come from many different backgrounds and have a variety of needs.
The school is growing and changing from year to year and with that you have a more diverse population of student needs. The students at my school are so special because they embrace and accept change, they look forward to new, innovative ideas, and are truly grateful for everything the teachers do for them to help them succeed.
My Project
First grade is a pivotal year to strengthen early math and literacy skills. The classroom sets of writing boards, math manipulatives, and literacy tools will help provide all students with the supplies they need for the school year. These tools will be used in small group and individual instructions to provide an interactive, hands-on experience for all the students. All of the resources will also be small enough to travel home with them to support home learning as well.
Given these unforeseen circumstances, my students need access to their own set of classroom math and literacy manipulatives in order to adhere to COVID recommendations.
All of these resources will be able to be washed down and kept in individual containers for safe to meet all the COVID regulations and guidelines.
