This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are predominantly African American and live and attend school on the north side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All of the students that I service are special education students in early elementary.
I love my students because I get to see them both learn in the classroom, and experience things for the first time.
For example, I like to do reading lessons in which students spell words with shaving cream on the desks, and will give students exotic food afterwards.
My Project
My project is for headphones and hands on materials that will help my students learn sight words and how to add. There is also a game which tests students readiness to go onto third grade.
These hands on materials will brighten up the children's eyes when they can get hands on practice with literacy.
The headphones will be used with literacy stations and during testing. There are three hands on activities. The first one helps students build addition problems. The second one has students take letters to form sight words. The last activity is a game that tests students readiness to go onto the third grade.
