Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in a city where crime rates are high, and there is a 98% poverty rate. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with the same creative and meaningful learning experiences that other students are able to have.
Although I may not be able to control their home lives, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day.
By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My students, although only three and four years old, are hard workers, and they deserve to come to school and feel safe and loved, and I'm happy to be the one who is able to give them that.
My Project
My students need storytelling kit 1 and 2 to help engage students in read aloud time. I teach literacy and language skills to pre-kindergarten students. My school serves our entire community.
Students in our community come to school with little experience with quality literature.
Age-appropriate literature helps to develop many reading skills, such as: rhyme, vocabulary, phonics, and a love of reading.
These storytelling kits with props will introduce my students to a wide variety of high quality literature. The props that accompany the books will create interest and motivation, while helping to capture the student's attention. We also can benefit greatly from some literature books for my students to read.
By funding this project, you will help to give one of the greatest gifts to our students: developing a love of reading and literacy. These materials will enhance and extend the skills of our early and emergent readers.
Students also need ABC bowling kit. The bowling game will make learning letters FUN! Students love hands on activities which include using gross motor skills.
Students lastly need math manipulatives kit for math centers. Students are learning counting, patterning, and early addition and subtraction skills. This is possible by using hands on manipulatives!
