Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager and excited about learning new things. They come from very different backgrounds but they all have one thing in common; they have a teacher who loves them and wants them all to succeed. Our school is located in the foothills of a large, farming community.
Kindergarten is such an important year where we will build a lifetime love of learning.
Since many of my students haven't attended preschool, this year will be their very first educational experience. I hope to make it memorable.
My Project
My classroom is equipped with some math manipulatives, but I need more in order to continue to challenge my students and keep them engaged throughout the year. We will use these materials during our math centers each afternoon.
My Kindergarten students thrive when given opportunities to expand their learning through hands-on activities.
With these manipulatives I am able to create many different activities that can be adjusted throughout the year based on which standard I am teaching at the time. We will use these for sorting, counting, patterns, addition, and subtraction. These manipulatives will also be available for students to explore during play time.
