My students need these hands-on materials to reinforce the concepts that are taught in our math program. The manipulatives such as fraction towers will help students to see concepts from a different perspective.
Our school serves students in kindergarten through sixth grades and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. We are a Title I school that is focused on literacy, math and science. We have a group of creative and excited learners that will benefit from projects that are funded.
We have 170 English Language Learners attending our school out of 415 students.
Our class has students that speaks multiple languages. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in middle and high school and college. Our class will be having a STEM focus this school year.
My Project
My classroom has a STEM focus. Many times the concepts taught in math are abstract and this project will help my students get a hands-on experience to reinforce the concepts taught in our sixth grade math class.
Studies show that students learn best when learning is active, when they are engaged in hands-on classroom games and activities, and involved in what they are learning.
The requested items will help my students be involved with the math lessons.
The manipulatives such as fraction towers, balances, cards, and graph paper will give my students opportunities to practice and visualize fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, area, and algebraic expressions.
